Provides repair services for automobiles for Leech Lake Band Members at no cost. Repair service priority as follows: - Elderly Leech Lake Band Member 55 years and older - Handicapped Leech Lake Band Member - Leech Lake Band Member Please note: - Small Vehicle Repair is not responsible for warranty on parts that are brought in. - Small Vehicle Repair is not responsible for any damages, lost/stolen items if vehicle is left on DPW compound. - Small Vehicle Repair does not store vehicles that do not have parts for repairs and/or vehicles that are not able to be repaired.
Provides supportive assistance to individuals and families in an emergency situation. Assists in identifying other community resources which may provide additional help. Services offered may include: - Automotive repair and gas assistance (applicant must have a verifiable medical appointment or employment to be considered) - Clothing - Financial assistance for eviction and utility disconnection notice if funding is available - Household furnishings - IDs and birth certificates - One-way bus ticket for relocation purposes - Prescription assistance for non-narcotic prescriptions ??NOTE: Individuals are required to complete an intake form in order to receive assistance. - Provides household stability counseling, case management, planning and longer-term support to address multiple needs and barriers. Also assists clients with finding employment, creating resumes, etc. - Limited emergency financial assistance for transportation to employment for residents of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Shorewood and Woodland. This financial assistance is provided on a limited, case-by-case basis to help with prescription co-pays, minor car repairs, bus cards, employment related expenses, etc.

Provides financial assistance for income-eligible applicants for auto repairs. Will not cover costs to replace engines or transmissions.
Inspection and Repairs Provides free inspections (by appointment only). Focus on safety and drivability issues with the car. After the inspection, individuals will receive an estimate. Repairs cost $15/hour for labor and parts are sold without a markup. The appointment calendar opens one month at a time - on the second Monday of each month the calendar is open for scheduling appointments in the following month. Pre-Purchase Inspection Offers free pre-purchase inspections. Alerts individuals of any repairs that are needed to help individuals make the best possible choice with available resources. Will not write an estimate or offer any repairs from this appointment, pre-purchase inspections are to help inform the individual's purchase. Appointments available within a day or two. Call the shop to schedule an appointment. Express Service Provides walk-in and low-cost express services (first come, first served) 10 am to 12 noon Fridays. Services include checking and topping off fluids, checking and replacing bulbs/headlights, checking and replacing wiper blades, and testing and replacing the car battery. Immediate Need Partners with other garages to reduce the wait for simple and immediate car repair needs. Individuals may be eligible for a referral to another repair location for low-cost car repair. Individuals should review the eligibility requirements and if they qualify should complete a referral request form on the website. This program will fix only one immediate need for a repair to keep the individual's car safely on the road until The Lift can do a full inspection. Repairs that are eligible for referral must be experiencing just one of these needs: - Brakes (brake light, unable to stop) - Radiator and hoses (overheating, coolant leak) - Batteries, Alternator (charging system) - Power Steering systems (power steering fluid leaks, stiff steering) - Suspension (shocks, struts, sway bar links, ball joints and wheel bearings) - Tires Vehicles/ Repairs NOT eligible for this program (include but are not limited to): - Any Diagnosis required - Heavy Duty Engine or Transmission repair/ replacement - AC systems - Body work or Collision Repair - Glass work NOTE: This program is meant only to address a specific, urgent repair need and does not include a full vehicle inspection. If individuals are eligible for a referral, they will be offered an upcoming, full-vehicle inspection appointment at The Lift Garage at a later date.
Car distribution: receives, inspects, and repairs donated cars and then distributes them to residents to help them achieve economic security and self-sufficiency. The goal is to help people move from welfare to work, immigrants or refugees who are unable to establish credit to purchase a vehicle needed for work, underemployed, unemployed, people with disabilities, seniors and students. Car repair: repairs are only provided once for any applicant, and it is not available if the client already received a donated vehicle from DCCCP (unless special funding is available). When the application process is complete, an appointment will be made to evaluate the client's vehicle to determine if the repair is: - Essential for safety or reliability of the vehicle - Reasonable based on the vehicle's age and condition - Within the budget limits of DCCCP or other resources can pay for the difference - Able to be completed in the four hour block of time when volunteers are available.

The Salvation Army in Houston has limited funds for food vouchers, hotel vouchers, and transportation needs including bus tickets for stranded travelers and car repair assistance. This service is only available when the organization has funding. Because of the dependence on the organization's available funds there is no guarantee that all requests for assistance can be granted, however, people are encouraged to call when they have an emergency need.

Work with clients to establish relationships and work through temporary hardships. Partners with the Buffalo Food Shelf, Blessing Closet, and the Buffalo Rotary. Offers services such as: - Baby items such as diapers, wipes, blankets, and bottles. Delivers items and accepts baby items. Will not accept crib furniture with drop sides or car seats. - Gas vouchers on a limited basis - Minor car repair assistance of up to $300 per family per year. The small grant goes toward paying for parts and volunteer labor is provided. - Moving services to help clients move within the area with at least a two-week notice. - Volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments or job interviews. 2 - 3 day notice is required.

Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 18 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Family emergency assistance, for evictions including first month's rent and/or damage deposit; utility disconnect; car repair for employment purposes; foreclosures; and other shelter related expenses, such as moving expenses, mortgage and property taxes. Maximum amount of assistance provided is $99 for shelter and $700 for utilities.
