ECFE is a parenting education program for all Minnesota families with children between the ages of birth to Kindergarten entrance. Learning opportunities through ECFE may occur in a variety of settings, such as the families' homes, district or community sites, and online parenting education and support. Programming and education services often include parents/caregivers and children but may just include parents/caregivers. ECFE works to strengthen families and engage the ability of all parents to provide an environment that supports the healthy development of their child. Services may include:

Medicare Savings Programs have four sub-programs:
  • Qualified Disabled and Working Individuals (QDWI): Helps pay for Part A premiums only. Monthly income limits for individuals and married couples apply.
  • Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB): Helps pay for Part A and B premiums as well as deductibles, coinsurance and copayments. Monthly income limits for individuals and married couples apply.
  • Qualifying Individual (QI): Helps pay for Part B premiums only. Monthly income limits for individuals and married couples apply.
  • Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB): Helps pay for Part B premiums only. Monthly income limits for individuals and married couples apply. Monthly income limits and countable resource limits apply for individuals and married couples. Countable resources include money in a checking or savings account, stocks, and bonds. A home, one car, a burial plot, $1,500 in burial expenses (if the amount is put aside), furniture, and other household and personal items do not apply for the resource limit. Generally under these programs, premiums are put back into the monthly Social Security check making participants' monthly income increase, which takes a couple months to process.

Pregnant women and children up to 3 years old may apply for this year-long opportunity.

Provides an online application to residents who have past due rent in order to help households remain in their current housing situation. Financial assistance may be provided for past-due rent and other funding programs, such as the Family Homelessness Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP), the Local Affordable Housing Aid (LAHA), the Statewide Affordable Housing Aid (SAHA), and other emergency rental assistance. Funding is available to renters facing an eviction for any reason, including those affected by immigration enforcement. There is currently a lifetime cap amount to how much a household can apply for assistance. If funding is not available, Rent Help Hennepin applications are still being accepted through their web portal. NOTE: Households in Hennepin County who meet income guidelines that need rent assistance should apply through the Rent Help Hennepin website and should not be directed to Emergency Assistance (EA)/Emergency General Assistance (EGA).

  • Licensing ensures that providers have passed a fire inspection and criminal record check.

  • County licensing staff inspect homes annually and offer ongoing support and educational services upon request.

  • Custom Manufacturing: Contracts with area businesses to provide trainee jobs in high demand fields of manufacturing, welding, and machining.
  • Furnish Office and Home: Nonprofit store primarily selling used and new office and home furnishings for up to 80% off list prices. Items vary based on donations. Paid job training program allowing trainees experience working on sales and warehouse skills, conflict resolution, maintaining a positive attitude and gaining solid work history based on dependability and personal responsibility. Accepts donations of office furniture, equipment and supplies; a pick up fee may be charged. Accepts donations of household furniture in good, resalable condition and less than 10 years old including tables, chairs, sofas, dressers, night stands, lamps, bookcases, artwork, appliances, electronics and tools.
  • Second Chance Recycling: Specializes in recycling mattresses and batteries and sole manufacturer and distributor of Salvatore Ovens. Employs those facing barriers to employment as trainees for 6 - 12 months as a way to help participants build healthy work habits and a work history. Accepts mattresses and box springs for a fee and can pick up curbside for a fee. Quantities of 25 or more, call to make arrangements. Mattresses with bed bugs are not accepted. Batteries from the general public are not accepted.

Works with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness residing across Hennepin County communities. To increase overall stability, improve health and wellness, and support the member's ability to remain in the community, the team assesses the individual's goals and then provides or coordinates services to support folks in moving toward those goals. Some of the services provided include:
  • Accessing resources to find safe and affordable housing, and support in maintaining their housing.
  • Assisting with job applications, finding and maintaining employment, and moving toward or maintaining financial stability.
  • Community activities that give individuals the opportunity to enjoy public outings and build stronger connections to the community.
  • Fostering a community drop-in space that strives to ensure all individuals can feel safe, welcome, and valued, and can access mental health support from peers and counselors.
  • Helps foster social support, prevent isolation, and promote recovery.
  • Obtaining and maintaining health insurance benefits.
  • Providing mental health crisis support and resource connection.
  • Providing training/education about mental illness, treatment, recovery, and independent living skills.

Mobile Mental Health Crisis Response Team: Offers suicide risk assessments, safety planning, coping skills coaching, and referrals to ongoing care. These services aim to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations, prevent displacement from the home, help individuals remain connected to existing supports, and link them with additional resources. The crisis response team can travel to homes or community locations to assist. Services include:
