This is a Medicaid program for beneficiaries who need help in paying for Medicare Part B premiums. For those who qualify, the Medicaid program pays full Medicare Part B premiums only. Eligibility begins the month of application and, if eligible, retroactively for up to 3 months. Note: There can be a lag time before SSA is able to stop taking the premiums out of the recipient's benefit check but the recipient will be reimbursed by SSA for all months eligible for SLMB and/or QMB or QI. The reverse is true when these programs terminate: recipients should be told to put aside premium costs from first month of termination on.

Works to strengthen families and engage the ability of all parents to provide an environment that supports the healthy development of their child. Services may include:

A nine-bed adult residential crisis stabilization unit that provides a short-term safe place for individuals to stay while working through a mental health crisis. The unit is staffed 24 hours/7 days a week and offers counseling and education to clients in managing their mental health symptoms. All admissions are voluntary and based on bed availability.

  • Reduced fare, $1, to senior citizens weekdays during NON-rush hours, all day Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. ID required with this fare - driver's license or Minnesota ID with a "T" endorsement, Medicare card, or railroad retirement card.
  • Reduced fare, $1, for youth ages 6 - 12 available weekdays during NON-rush hours, all day Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
  • Children ages 5 and under ride free when accompanied by one paid adult fare (limit 3 per adult). Youth 13 - 17 may qualify for a reduced fare card through schools and employers.
  • Reduced fare, $1, for persons with disabilities (those unable to qualify for a Minnesota driver's license because of physical or mental disability) all day, every day, including weekends and holidays. Certified identification is required - Medicare card (valid during non-rush hours only), Metro Mobility card, Metro Transit temporary ID card, or Minnesota driver's license/state ID with an "L" or "A" endorsement.   • Free Transit Program for Disabled Veterans: Provides free rides on any fixed route service in Minnesota. Disabled veterans with a service connected disability must show a Veterans Identification Card (VIC) issued by a VA Medical Center with the words "Service Connected" or the initials "SC" below the photo. These cards are available at the VA Medical Centers in Minneapolis or St. Cloud.

Provides investigation and intervention services on behalf of vulnerable adults who are unable to act on their own behalf, manage their own affairs, or who are in immediate danger of abuse. Types of abuse may be physical, emotional, sexual abuse, unsafe or hazardous living conditions, exploitation, neglect, or abandonment. Services include:
  • Taking reports and investigating abuse and/or maltreatment
  • Removal of the individual to safer surroundings
  • Services necessary to remove the conditions which have created a threat to life
NOTE: Complaints, questions, or concerns involving incidents in facilities licensed by the Health Department, such as hospitals, nursing homes, boarding care homes, supervised living facilities, assisted living and home health agencies can be referred to the Minnesota Board on Aging Ombudsman for Long-Term Care.

Minnesota's Medicaid program for people with low income. Most people who have MA receive health care through health plans. Members who do not receive health care through a health plan receive care on a fee-for-service basis, with providers billing the state directly for services they provide. MA pays for a variety of services like doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospital stays. Some services and prescriptions may require prior approval. MA pays for medical bills going back three months from the month the application is received. NOTE: People with disabilities who work, even if they're over the income or asset limits of MA, may still qualify for a program called Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities - MA-EPD.
