Helps individuals and families with low incomes (including temporary low incomes) get the food they need for nutritious and well-balanced meals. Provides extra support to help stretch a household's food budget - it is not meant to cover all the groceries a family needs. Monthly benefits are loaded on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks and works like a debit card. The amount of benefits received is based on income, expenses, and number of people in the household. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program provides free employment and education training and support for people getting SNAP benefits. SNAP E&T participants gain support, skills, training, or experience to reach their goals. Many organizations, including technical and community colleges, community-based organizations, county agencies, tribes, and CareerForce Centers provide SNAP E&T programs and services. Programs can include career planning, job search, training for in-demand jobs, student support, financial support, and continued support once a participant has a job.

Provides long-term group home residential placement and temporary shelter for youth. Youth participate in individual and family therapy as well as group skills. Youth placed in temporary shelter are provided basic needs services with an immediate needs assessment completed at intake. Services available include:

• After-care support is available after placement

• Discharge planning with family/guardian,

• Licensed clinical therapist on staff

• Individual weekly goals, needs assessments, and treatment plan

• Registered nurse on staff

• Weekly group educational skills

Provides financial assistance to persons who have health care needs and are uninsured, underinsured, ineligible for a government program, or otherwise unable to pay

Provides an advocate/support person for the rape or sexual assault victim and their families; this includes victims of partner rape, acquaintance rape, date rape, stranger rape, gang rape, ritualistic rape, or any form of sexual assault. Also addresses sexual harassment and hostile work environment issues. Provides support through services:

• Books and resources

• Crisis counseling and intervention

• Crisis line

• Information and referral

• Legal/court/law enforcement advocacy

• Medical advocacy

• Orders for Protection or Harassment Restraining Order assistance

• Reparations (financial assistance for crime-related costs)

Assists families, schools, and the community to:

• Enroll homeless students in a stable education program
• Make transportation arrangements that promote stability including school of origin if feasible
• Gather school records from other locations
• Distribute school supplies and make referrals to agencies that meet basic needs
• Increase awareness and support in the community regarding conditions of homelessness
• Be an advocate within the school system as well as in the community helping assure homeless students are respected and addressed

Funding local non-profits' initiatives for providing basic needs for families, such as emergency services of the Red Cross and Salvation Army; early education programs like Early Childhood Family Education; and health services for uninsured individuals and families, such as Open Door Health Center.

• Once a participant has successfully completed Employee Development Services but is not yet ready for supported or competitive employment, he/she may be hired into work services

• Program provides work and fringe benefits while continuing the individualized work goals and skills training for participants

• Behavioral goals and productivity are constantly monitored by staff

• When the participant meets the criteria necessary for community employment, he/she is assisted with job placement in the community

Provides in home support and group-based therapeutic recreation for individuals with special needs ages two through adulthood, emphasizing community involvement, friendship-building, and healthy and independent living. Programs include the following:

• Healthy Families and Parents as Teachers: Provides early, relationship-based home-visiting support for families from pregnancy through age 5. Staff meet regularly with caregivers to strengthen parent-child relationships, support healthy development, and build confidence during early childhood. Visits are tailored to each family and focus on creating a foundation for learning, growth, and well-being. Services are offered weekly for up to 60 minutes, typically over 2 to 4 years. The program serves Hennepin County residents and operates Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling in community settings and from the Nicollet Center.

• PASS Program Promoting Attendance and School Success: Offered in partnership with Scott County, supports students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are experiencing or are at risk of attendance concerns. Staff work directly with children, caregivers, and school personnel to understand barriers to consistent attendance and develop individualized solutions. The program focuses on collaboration, problem-solving, and helping each child be present and ready to learn. Visits typically occur twice per month in the family's home, with flexible weekday hours. Eligibility includes Scott County residents with a child in kindergarten through fifth grade facing attendance issues.

• Sensitive Parenting Support: Offers in home support for pregnant individuals and caregivers of children from birth to age four who are living with a mental health diagnosis. Staff provide emotional support, developmental guidance, resource connections, and the evidence based Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch Up intervention, which helps caregivers respond sensitively to their infants and toddlers. Services are free, occur weekly for sixty minutes, and typically last six to nine months. The program serves caregivers in Hennepin and Scott counties and offers flexible weekday scheduling in the family's home.

While Minneapolis Public Schools are in session, Waite House provides after-school programs to neighborhood youth in grades 6 - 12. Services include:

• Employment and post secondary preparation through Career Pathways program

The 24/7 Dad's group is a parenting class for fathers.

Provides law enforcement and community services.

Assists the community by preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural and man-made disasters. Services include coordination with agencies to deliver critical support, such as emergency response and hazard mitigation, ensuring recovery and resilience, planning, public education, and training.

Case managers are on-site to assist with accessing services such as housing, jobs, and education.

Provides child care assistance to pay child care costs for children up to age 12 and children with special needs up to age 14. Child care costs may be paid for families while parents work, look for work, or attend school. Considerations are made when determining eligibility, such as family size, family income, participation in authorized activities, and available funding.

Provides information, resources, and referrals for services to older adults and their caregivers. Assistance may include application assistance with financial programs, homecare and support group resources, healthcare directive completion, food programs, issues related to caring for someone living with dementia and more. Advocates can assist by telephone, home visit, or a family meeting.

Offers a state-run program that provides eligible workers with paid time off and job protection when they need to care for their own serious health condition or to care for a family member, bond with a new child, or address certain military or safety-related needs. The program offers partial wage replacement while an employee is on leave and applies broadly to most employees working in Minnesota beginning January 1, 2026.

Provides a multi-disciplinary approach toward the treatment of chemically-dependent individuals, their families, and their significant others. Services are available on both a residential or outpatient basis; Outpatient programs are available during the day or in the evening.
