Small trees less than 3" in diameter, branches, brush, bushes, and other natural wood products are accepted and need to be placed in a separate wood and brush pile at the site.

-Responsible for adhering to the City's Comprehensive Plan, subdivision regulations, and zoning codes
- Review land use plans and administer land use control ordinances and zoning enforcement
Public Works
- Coordinate and manage all of the activities associated with operation and maintenance of the city's facilities, infrastructure, and properties including community garden, parks and trails, sanitary sewer system, snow removal, street repair, street sign, storm sewers, and water mains

- Yard waste/compost site: 800 Buffalo Ave S (1/4 mile south of the stoplights on east side of road inside the fenced area), available only to residents of Montrose. Yard waste includes acorns, apples, corn stocks, firewood (up to 2-inch diameter), garden vegetation, grass clippings, leaves, pine cones, pumpkins, shrubs, and tree branches.

- Maintains traffic signs, traffic signals, pavement markings, and roadway lighting on county roads
- Provides permit for driveways that connect onto county roads, Right-of-Way (Utility) permit within the county road right-of-way, and Two-Way Snowmobile Trail permit operated within the county road right-of-way
