Birthing center offers the following services,

• Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) services

• Education: Partnering with Fairview Mesaba Clinics and the Essentia Clinic-Hibbing, a variety of pregnancy, parenting, and infant care classes are available.

• Lactation Services: A Lactation Specialist works closely with a Lactation Educator from the Public Health Department and the local La Leche League. These services are provided free of charge.

• Maternal Child Care: Medical staff includes an obstetrician, pediatricians, and family practice physicians offering family-centered maternity care.

• Prenatal Tests, including:

Non-Stress Test: Non-invasive test performed using an external monitor. Ultrasound: Uses sonic waves which are beamed through the mother's abdomen to the baby. Amniocentesis: A Physician extracts a sample of amniotic fluid from inside the placental sac.

• Unexpected Deliveries: Baby born earlier than planned or with special health needs. Baby receives care in the Nursery. If the baby does require intensive medical care after birth, arrangements can be made quickly for transfer to a facility with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

• Labor and Delivery class training is provided through the Rainy Lake Medical Center Hospital Campus

• The Maternal and Child Health Special Project seeks to reduce infant mortality and disability and to improve the health of the mothers and babies. Home visits are made to pregnant women and mothers and infants by a skilled maternal and child health nurse. Education and support services to reduce maternal risk-taking behaviors and improve parenting skills are provided through individual counseling, group education, prepared childbirth classes, special classes for students on healthy lifestyles, and the distribution of printed materials and newsletters

• Family Planning Services are available at Koochiching Family Planning Clinic

Freeborn County promotes healthy families and safe, nurturing environments for children. The Family Health program supports families as they learn about:

Home Visiting Program

• Home visits are offered to pregnant women, infants, and children to provide ongoing support.

Maternal Child Health Services

• All Becker County families with a newborn are contacted by a Community Health Nurse. A home visit will be offered to provide new parents with information on feeding choices, newborn cares and additional support.

Parental, Childbirth, and Newborn Education

• Educational support is offered to all residents of Becker County. Material presented is tailored to meet the specific needs including labor and delivery, breastfeeding, bottle feeding and newborn/postpartum care.

Breastfeeding Resources

• Becker County WIC office sponsors a Breastfeeding Support Group that meets monthly. Online Breastfeeding Support Group.

Car Seat Program

• Medica and Blue Plus have a car seat program for children up to 8 years of age. Education and installation of the car seat are offered to any resident of Becker County.

Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC)

• Child and Teen Checkups are offered to any Becker County resident under the age of 21. Checkups include: hearing and vision screening, developmental screening, physical exam, lead screening, immunizations and referrals to other health care providers as necessary.

Immunizations

• Infant, child and adult immunizations can be done at Becker County Community Health by appointment.

Follow Along Program

• Consists of a series of developmental questionnaires the parent completes and returns to Becker County Community Health. The questionnaire is scored and a letter is sent to the parent with the results. This program is free to all children in Becker County under the age of 36 months.

Program supports women at every stage of life, providing comprehensive care that addresses reproductive health, pregnancy and postpartum needs, menopause, and overall wellness. The program emphasizes personalized care for both physical and emotional well-being, from heart and bone health to preventive and reproductive care, empowering women to achieve their health goals at every age.

Works with community education and area hospitals to provide education to expectant and new parents, professional labor support for teen moms, and moms without partners. Available services include:

• Group and private classes
• Doula services
• Private in-home Lamaze classes
• Breastfeeding support
